What people are saying

Dear David,

Your visit to the Sometimes Tuesday Book Club was a special treat. While we often read history, biographies and historical fiction, we don’t often get to visit and speak with the author!

To have you share some of what’s known about the various characters and to see some of their photos was exciting. How you developed themes and what led you to expand the characters we found very interesting. All in all the evening was special for us and we thank you and Linda for being willing to join us.

I loved hearing David Jessup tell the fascinating story and detail behind his book Mariano’s Crossing.  (a novel about Mariano Medina, a colorful person in Loveland, Colorado’s history.)  Just like  Michener’s Centennial about the settling of the Greeley, Colorado, Mr. Jessup’s book weaves the story about the various people who settled in the Thompson Valley of Colorado. They become individuals with their own unique personalities, including strengths and character flaws. To say that this is “history come alive” is an understatement.  I cannot wait to take one of David Jessup’s tours of the locations he describes in the book.

What a great event! The book was very engaging and the author was very knowledgeable.

For way too many years, the incredible accomplishments of the Hispanic community have gone untold. Finally, David Jessup illuminates the life of Mariano Medina, a very important Colorado Hispanic pioneer. I very much enjoyed reading his historical novel, Mariano’s Crossing,” and I know you will as well.

The book, “Mariano’s Crossing” was reviewed BY THE AUTHOR!!!  Which was a real treat.  This is his first book, but he is working on two others that dove-tail this story.  One will be about “The Indian Woman”…the third about “John Alexander.”  …His presentation was great.  The fact that he has been co-owner of the Sylvan Dale Guest Ranch for years added to much to the fabric of the setting woven into the story.  He was a VERY cute and nice old-ish Cowboy.  …In addition to the book being a GREAT story, the unfolding of the steps it takes to write and publish a book made David’s talk all the more interesting.
